This little post will tell you that how adwords and adsense are linked together. The source of all adsense income is the adwords program. What happens is this: Adwords is a program that pays google a lot. Actually google takes a small amount from Advertisers to place links to their ads on its search results. With these amounts google makes profits. Not all ads placed on google earn revenues for the advertisers( believe me google wont run a program as large as adwords just to pay out to advertisers) Now these ads when placed on more number of sites will earn more revenue for google. Now this revenue keeps on increasing when google publishes these ads on various websites through adsense. Hence google now pays the website owners a percentage of the revenue it earns from these ads placed on the websites. So you see how google can still make profits even when it is paying you!! As you all know google is known on the internet better with it's search engine than any other of its subsidary applications or programs. Google uses it's search engine to customize ads on various sites and blogs so that its advertisers profits increase as more and more viewers click on the ads. Currently, adsense places javascript coded ads on your websites. The content on your website is crawled by Mediabot and not Googlebot. Mediabot is used by google to crawl your website for the purpose of placing content specific ads on it and googlebot is used by google's search engine to search your site for content.
Adsense serves very helpful for small scale publishers who do not have the budget for large scale advertisements from other expensive alternatives. Websites that are content rich have been very successful in this manner of earning. Remember content is the key to success in adsense program. The web publishers or website owners use the following ways to generate more and more revenues from adsense:
- They use many traffic generating schemes and these schemes are easy to find on the internet and the most relevant and genuine of these is online advertising.
- Again, the owners publish rich content which is unique and is interesting to the viewer, Rich content helps in attracting more and more visitors to your site which again increases your revenue.

I understand how Adsense works though because I have this on my new website now. However, I'm still confused as to how I can earn income from Adwords. I thought I have to pay Google a CPC whenever someone clicks on my ad?
Yes awsdney you will have to pay google a cpc. No doubt bout that but eventually you will see that the earnings you make out of it are high enough if you know your way around. But if you are not gud enugh you may end up losing everything just because you were not in the right place. I will write out a hub soon to let you know about cpc working strategies!!

I think a lot of people overlook adsense for domains, I use it and it adds a decent income to adsense itself. It also helps the visitor find things they need in context with the articles.
