Getting huge and high quality traffic is the key to your success with google adsense. Google has a tool called webmaster that lays down specific guidelines for your website to get better searched by the search engines. In fact, by submitting your site to the google webmaster, your website stands a better chance of getting searched by google and other search engines. Owing to the high competition on the internet, you can assure yourselves of geeting among the top 10 results of a search engine. Google webmaster divides these guidelines into three broad categories:

DESIGN AND CONTENT GUIDELINES

• Your website must contain text links which are very clear and lead the readers to almost every page on your website. In other words your website naviagtion must be almost 100% accurate.
• Offer a sitemap to your viewers. This will help the viewers to know which are the important parts of your website and they will be able to reach almost all pages of your website easily.
• Chose a topic of your interest or that suits your business. Write original and unique content for your webpages. This will keep bringing users to your site.
• Try to include the important keywords that are relevant to your website be present in text format on your website. Google crawler does not recognize images and will search only for textual content.
• Do not use broken links, hidden pages or hidden links in your webpages.

TECHNICAL GUIDELINES

• Use a text browser such as Lynx to view your site because most search engines would see your site as Lynx would i.e., only the text part of it. Hence you will know whether or not your website is fully reachable to the search engines or not.
• Make sure your web server supports the If-Modified-Since HTTP header. This feature allows your web server to tell Google whether your content has changed since we last crawled your site. Supporting this feature saves you bandwidth and overhead.
• If you use a content management system on your website, make sure the system creates links that google and other search engines can crawl.
• Test your website for corrective measures in different web browsers.

Quality guidelines

• Make a website for the people and not for the search engines. Displaying content to the users that is different to what you submit to the search engines is termed as cloaking and is a malpractice.
• Do not practice false tricks that would improve your search engine tactics by keeping aside the interest of your viewers.
• DO NOT participate in schemes especially link schemes used to increase your page rankings or search engine optimizations.
